Toyota has sold more than 50 million Corolla cars over the years, making it the most popular car model in the history of the automobile. Toyota's latest innovation is the GR Corolla, a high-performance version of the Corolla hatchback inspired by rally racing. The GR stands for Gazoo Racing, Toyota's competition and performance division that also produced the GR Supra and GR86 two-door sports cars. The GR Corolla comes with a 1.6-liter turbocharged, three-cylinder engine that generates 300 horsepower, providing an excellent performance deal. It features a widebody makeover, advanced all-wheel-drive system, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. The GR Corolla is offered only with a six-speed manual transmission, which highlights its fun-to-drive nature, and you can choose the torque split between the front and rear wheels. A set of Torsen limited-slip differentials aimed at maximizing traction is available for $1,180. The suspension is pretty stiff for rough roads, and the engine is rated for 24 mpg combined. The GR Corolla comes with the latest Toyota Safety Sense package of electronic driver aids. There are three different GR Corolla models, including the Morizo Edition, Circuit Edition, and Core.
